Atonement Memorial Garden and Columbarium

What is a columbarium?Columbarium_Garden002

Cremation is becoming more widely accepted as an option for burial. The Church has a long history surrounding this rite of passage. Older and ancient churches were often built in close proximity to burial areas for their congregational sisters and brothers. Christians today are finding that they wish to use the option of cremation, but also wish to take advantage of a permanent memorial site. Providing a resting place near the church that guided them through their life’s journey offers the answer to this need.

The Atonement Memorial Garden has been created to offer our congregation a beautiful, serene place for meditation and prayer. In this setting we have incorporated a Columbarium for the inurnment of our sisters and brothers who have chosen cremation and wish to have a permanent memorial to their life on earth. Our columbarium is located within the memorial garden we designed with sensitivity to Christian philosophy as well as elements of the earth. The Trinity can be found in the three wings of the Columbarium which hold the niches. The center section holds the symbol of the cross. The beauty of God's earth is represented in the flowers and shrubs. We pray that you will be blessed in your use of this space and have a renewed sense of God’s deep abiding love for you and your loved ones.
