Outreach in Action

building3

Whenever we think about the Outreach Team we recognize how reaching out to the needy in the community, in the synod, and in the world, is an integral part of the Atonement consciousness.

Our efforts are not confined to a single team but are led by many of the Atonement teams and supported by all members of the congregation. The continued economic downturn has had the potential to reduce our ability to give as well as our ability to empathize with those less fortunate than ourselves partly out of fear that we could soon be joining their ranks. But the consistent generosity in time, talents, and treasures of our congregation in support of not just our church but of our brothers and sisters all around us, confirms that the Atonement mission statement, Living in God's love—Reaching out with hope is much more than an empty slogan.

There is a lot more work to be done in the Outreach Ministry Team, whether your interests lie within local, regional, or international missions. We meet the second Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at the church. Come join us and let us know how you'd like to serve.

Caregiving Ministry

What is a Caregiver?

A Caregiver Is...
A child of God who walks beside a hurting person;
A caring Christian friend who really listens;
A lay person who has training in how to provide distinctively Christian care.

The Caregiver helps meet the needs of individuals who are…Be a Caregiver

Hospitalized
Terminally ill;
Bereaved;
in a job crisis;
New members of the church;
Disabled;
Lonely; homebound;
In a spiritual crisis; or
Looking for a caring Christian friend.

Consider allowing a Caregiver to walk with you on your journey to wholeness.

What Is A Caregiving Ministry?
It is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them.

Is life more than you can handle alone right now?
Are you adjusting to a new job, a change in marital status, a serious illness, the death of a loved one, a recent move? Would you like to have someone in your life who really cares?

Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to care, to listen, to share God's love with you can help you get through the confusion, stress, or loneliness you may be experiencing.

Caregivers Are Called to:

Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2

Encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
1 Thessalonians 5:14b

God is the Caregiver

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you.
Psalm 55:22a

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
I Peter 5:7

“Living in God's Love – Reaching Out with Hope”

How does the referrals process work? ‘Living in God's Love – Reaching Out with Hope’

A person - either you, a relative, or friend - is hurting and in need of Christian care. The Caregiver learns about this need for care - from the pastor, the person, or a friend, always with the person's permission.

With the person's permission, the pastors assign a Christian Caregiver. The Caregiver continues to provide distinctively Christian care for the person in strict confidentiality. Dear Friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. I John 4:11-12
