Did you ever wonder what goes in to organizing two worship services every Sunday, not to mention all the festival and special services throughout the year?
The answer is: The Spirit and Grace of God leads the Pastor and literally, a small army of volunteers, like you and me!
The Worship and Music Ministry is divided into sub-teams that have responsibility for a specific aspect of the Worship and Music preparation. Each sub-team is of equal importance in the preparation of the Worship experience here at Atonement Lutheran Church. Here is a brief description of each sub-team and a contact person that you may reach out to if you hear a call to participate. Please contact the church office,

Altar Guild – This team take great care in preparing the Holy communion meal for each worship service and prepares the altar with the paraments (ornamental clothes and linens that dress the altar) to match the various seasons of the Church calendar. If you are interested in becoming involved with Altar Guild, please contact Jan Lehnertz.
Altar Flowers- This team is an extension of the Altar Guild with the main responsibility of coordination of ordering, delivery and presentation of the flower bouquets, Easter lilies, and poinsettias that provide color and fragrance to the Worship Space throughout the year. Please contact Pat Lorenz to add flair to the flowers.
Lay Readers- Any Atonement Member is invited to read the Lessons and Psalms at the lectern during any of the services. The Lessons are planned in advance are available several days ahead of time with ample time to pre-read and practice your delivery of the Lesson. There are plenty of resources available to assist. If you would like to be a Lay Reader, please contact Mary Campe.
Communion Assistants- Any Atonement Member is invited to assist in the distribution of the Holy Communion meal. You may assist in serving the bread or wine or simply collect the small wine glasses. When distributing the bread, you say, “The body of Christ, given for you”. When distributing wine and/or grape juice, you say, “The blood of Christ, shed for you”.
HELP WANTED: Currently seeking 1 or more Communion Assistant Team Leader(s). The(se) individual(s) will coordinate and scheduled communion assistants for the various Worship Services. If interested, please contact the Church Office (303-985-1122) e-mail:

Ushers- These daring individuals have the ultimate challenge of directing the atypical Lutheran to actually sit AT or NEAR the FRONT of the Church!! Additional responsibilities, greeting people at the main entrance, passing the collection plate and guide people to the communion rail for Holy Communion.
If you are interested in participating as an Usher, there is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex or please contact any of these folks.

I hope this gives a glimpse of the opportunities to serve here at Atonement Lutheran Church. As you can see it does take a small army of volunteers just to assist with Worship and Music. Although there are plenty of opportunities in just this area alone, this is not even half of it.
I encourage you to make the most of your church life and church experience. FIND YOUR CALLING! GET INVOLVED!
